Holiday Knits

I wanted to share some of the gifts that I made for my family this year.  Several of the patterns are from Ravelry.com, if you are a knitter and haven't taken advantage of this fantastic resource, what are you waiting for?  It's free and offers many free patterns for just about anything.

Honeycomb Scarflette, You can find the pattern here: Loopy Lace Scarf Pattern
This fun scarflette was a gift for my mother.   Because she prefers to stay away from any wool material, I used a yarn that was 100% cotton.  She really liked the no-fuss pull through loop.

A close up of the honeycomb pattern.

Bow Beret, Pattern can be found here: Bow Beret
This darling beret was a gift for my sister, doesn't she look lovely?!  As soon as I found this pattern I knew it would be the absolute perfect hat for her.
Another view... I used a GGH Soft Kid yarn (70% super kid mohair, 25% nylon, 5% wool) which worked wonderfully for this pattern.  The yarn created a nice soft and fuzzy texture

Notice that it can be worn as a traditional beret as well as pushed back as my sister has done in the first photo.
Long Lace Scarf, pattern can be found here
This gorgeous lace scarf was a gift to my mother-in-law.  It knit up rather quickly and I was really happy with how it turned out... I think I will make a few more of these :)
Close up of the lace pattern, the light is a bit odd but you get the idea.  I used a fingering weight cotton.

Another close up, only light blocking was needed for the scarf.

Reversible Biking Hat, pattern can be found here
My Dad!!  This pattern was just perfect for him... he is an avid biker and this lightweight knit allows him to wear the hat underneath his helmet.  The hat is essentially reversible however the other side looks different.  I used a sport weight yarn and very small needles!

Double-Knotted Lattice Cabled Scarf, pattern can be found here

Hubby is modeling this ultra-warm cabled scarf that was a gift for my sister's boyfriend.  This extra thick scaft should help to keep him cozy in those frigid Chicago winters!  Can you spot one of our poodles sneaking in the photo :)

Owl Mittens, pattern can be found here
The Owl mittens while still under construction.  These were a present for my sister-in-law... I just love the owl design!
Blocking the mitten.  These turned out adorable... I added on two tiny buttons for eyes on the owl.
